Sometimes it is good to get away. Sometimes a break is what you need. Sometimes a break is the wrong idea. Sometimes you take a job in a remote mountain region when you really should be visiting your family.
Firewatch is a beautiful game. It is beautiful from a graphical standpoint as well as an emotional standpoint. The game is beautiful in regards to character growth. The game is beautiful due to the introspection it triggers.
From the moment your character, Henry, starts talking to Delilah you know that this is going to be am emotional rollercoaster. After getting out of the beginning sequence where you learn about the fate of your wife you are immediately thrown back into the fray.
The game does an excellent job of keeping you on edge, as a lot of people would be in the middle of nowhere by themselves. The feeling of being watched is executed very well - I recall sprinting carrying the toy dinosaur as a means to keep calm internally.
This game left me feeling good. I felt like there were a lot of secrets I missed, but after watching lore videos I think the only true secret I missed what the dark side of the main story - which looking back I really should not have missed.
