The idea of a horror story being from the point of a camera is not a new one - however this was the first one that I had personally seen that had the “stream chat” appear on screen (when the phone had service). I think this was actually neat and gave a little more depth to the situation. I do wish it was around more often as the phone losing signal during all of the “paranormal” portions was frustrating as a viewer - but it makes sense thematically.
The main character was a little too on-the-nose, but after it was over I decided she was kind of fun. As well, a lot of the “gross” scenes seemed over the top, but that also went with the vibe of the movie
Once the climax of the movie had started it seemed to veer off course into the realm of the even weirder. I was unsure what the mass cult suicide had to do with anything. The twist of having accidentally wound up at the place she was supposed to deliver Angela to was fun, but I did not realize it was the same place until I was watching the credits.
I did really enjoy the ending credits scene where the main character did a freestyle rap that dissed the people in the credits. It was fun to see every single name get a shout out.
Overall this movie was not terrible, but I would not call it a classic of any kind.
